Why does my readability score look harsher than I expected for technical writing?
This tool uses only the Flesch Reading Ease and Flesch-Kincaid formulas, so long sentences and multi-syllable words drag the score down quickly. It does not judge jargon, clarity, or audience familiarity beyond those counts.
Does this work well for non-English or heavily accented text?
Only partially. Word detection is broad enough to count many words, but the syllable estimator strips each word down to a-z before counting vowel groups, so accented or non-English text can produce rough results.
How is the difficulty label decided here?
The label comes straight from the Reading Ease score: 90+ is Very Easy, 80+ Easy, 70+ Fairly Easy, 60+ Standard, 50+ Fairly Difficult, 30+ Difficult, and anything lower is Very Confusing.
What does this tool treat as a sentence?
It splits sentences on periods, question marks, and exclamation marks, then ignores empty chunks. That means abbreviations or unusual punctuation can affect the sentence count.
Do I need to click anything to calculate the scores?
No. The metrics update automatically about a quarter-second after you stop typing, and the Copy button just copies the generated summary.
