Does this generate a real image file or just a placeholder URL?
It generates data URIs in the browser, not downloadable files by itself. You can switch between an SVG data URI and a PNG data URI and then copy the URL, an <img> tag, or CSS.
What image sizes does it allow?
Width and height are clamped between 16 and 4000 pixels. If you type something outside that range, the tool snaps it back into bounds.
Why did my typed color change back after I edited it?
The text inputs only accept valid 3-digit or 6-digit hex colors. Invalid values fall back to the current color picker color instead of producing broken output.
Do I have to click a button to regenerate the placeholder?
No. The preview and output fields update live when you change the size, colors, label, or format. If the label is blank, it automatically uses the current width × height.
Can I export JPEG placeholders from this tool?
No. The format selector only supports SVG data URIs and PNG data URIs. JPEG output is not implemented.
